On a sunny Friday afternoon, our class was excited about the upcoming school science fair. Mr. Smith, our science teacher, tasked us with creating a unique project to showcase. He divided the class into groups of four and I was teamed up with three other classmates: Alex, Lily, and Tom. We brainstormed ideas, and I proposed a project about the effects of different fertilizers (肥料) on plant growth. Everyone took the idea on board, and we got started right away.
We divided the work. I was in charge of researching different types of fertilizers, Alex was to prepare the plants, Lily would record the data, and Tom was responsible for making the display board. At first, everything went smoothly. I dug deep into various resources, finding detailed information about fertilizers. Alex carefully planted the seeds and took good care of the young plants. The other two also applied themselves to completing their tasks routinely.
However as the days passed, problems began to surface. Tom, who was not very interested in the project from the start, started slacking off (偷懒). He didn’t spend much time on the display board, saying he was too busy with other things. Lily got frustrated because the incomplete display board affected her data organization. Arguments broke out within the group. I was angry with Tom for not completing his duty, and Tom argued that the project wasn’t as important as we thought. Alex tried to calm us down, but the tension was still on.
The science fair was approaching fast, and we were far from ready. With the project in a mess, we all felt stressed and disappointed. Lily even stayed up late trying to reorganize the scattered (零散的) data, but without Tom’s visuals, her charts looked incomplete and confusing. None of us wanted to see our hard work go to waste, but we didn’t know how to solve the problem.
